Mardi Gras Hollywoodian Wrap Up

Hollywoodian Goes to Crispins Place

The $30,000 Hollywoodian was run Saturday Night at the Mardi Gras Racetrack and Casino and Crispins Place won convincingly as the public choice at 6-5 odds. The Hollywoodian serves as the Derby for Mardi Gras and is raced over the traditional Derby distance of 660 yards. Each year the eventual winner of the Hollywoodian is looked upon as a potential All-American candidate and much is expected from the champ as the year progresses.
This year’s champ Crispins Place came to Mardi Gras from Flagler where he seemed to hit his stride just before making the move up route 95 to the Hollywood oval for this big race. After showing some good late kick in the early rounds of the Hollywoodian our champ found his best form in the last two rounds of qualifying. Crispins Place came into the finals off of two impressive wins and didn’t disappoint his fans in the championship as he worked his way to the lead at the far turn and then steady drew away from the field to capture the crown with a comfortable 4.5 length victory.
The Joe Trudden Kennel  had placed four hounds into the championship race but the best they could do was come away with second  money as his pup Serena Williams took down the runner up spot. We expect that Crispins Place will be a factor in the big money races coming up and will keep you informed of his progress as the year goes on.
