Gulf's Greyhound of the Week - 8/15/2010

This week’s featured greyhound, C Ya Salty Dog, has experienced a career resembling a roller coaster over the past year and a half. When C Ya Salty Dog started in January 2009, the outlook was very positive as it only took nine starts to reach top grade AA. After winning two top grade races, C Ya Salty Dog ran into some problems sidelining the pup for three months. Since that initial time off, C Ya Salty Dog has experienced further bumps in the road off and on and transferred to the LaRosa Enterprises Kennel in June of this year. After this recent transition, C Ya Salty Dog has been on a roll finishing either first or second in his last six grade AA outings including winning the last two times out to earn this week’s honor as Greyhound of the Week.

Gable Dodge, the red son of Wigwam Wag and CJ Ima Bahama, was whelped in December of 1995 and was bred and owned by Harlyn and Nanna Goebel of Three Rivers, Tx. As a 78-pound youngster, he quickly began capturing top class races, winning 16 Grade A races at the Gulf track in 1977. He also finished third in the Ye Royal Race, was a finalist in the Gordon Wood Memorial, and captured the Au Revoir.

Our Reader's Write
by Nickolas Fulchino

When I would go to school in say, first grade, everyone would ask, "What is your dad's job?" I, perhaps, said, "He's a kennel operator and member of the NGA Board of Directors," more proudly then the other kids who would mumble, "Doctor" or "Engineer" or Realtor".

Eb Netr: Greyhound Systems

Do It Yourself With Help From the Internet
by Eb Netr
Greyhound systems are just another way of organizing as much information as possible and then analyzing it to figure out which dogs have the best chance of winning, placing and showing.  Of course, the more information you have, the better chance you have of picking the contenders. It’s a lot easier and quicker to gather that information now. More important, it’s a lot cheaper – free in many cases.

Gulf's Greyhound of the Week - August 8th

In the history of Gulf Greyhound Park, there is one resounding theme that has enabled greyhounds to be successful repeatedly, early box speed. More often than not, if a greyhound can win the race to the first turn, good things would happen. This week’s featured greyhound, Open Mind from High Star Kennel, possesses that much needed speed from the starting box and used it to her advantage winning twice to earn the honor as Greyhound of the Week.

Eb Netr: Why Did Bac's Xtreme Beat Yahoo Omar

Why Did Bac's Xtreme Beat Yahoo Omar
in the "He's My Man Classic" at Palm Beach Kennel Club?

Author: Eb Netr

Although I'm spending the winter in the frozen north this year, I get a chance to play the dogs at a track within driving distance. There's no live racing at the NH tracks anymore, but they still have simulcasts, thank goodness. This Saturday, I was looking forward to the "He's My Man Classic" from Palm Beach Kennel Club and had handicapped it the night before.
