What a way to be eliminated.

After the second round of the Sprint Classic at Derby Lane, there was a four-way tie for the last spots in Saturday night’s third round.

Flying Coal City, recently named captain of the All America team and one of the nation’s top greyhounds, was in that mix with Magic Finch, LL’s Dormarbuddy and Celtic Dream.

Last night, the draw was made, and Dormarbuddy and Dream advanced.

I’ve seen ties before in these stakes events, but I don’t remember seeing a four-way mix.

Unfortunately, Coal City won’t be advancing, but that shouldn’t take anything away from the pup. You can see that greyhound loves to run, and how smart he is on the course, weaving his way through traffic to win after win.

We’ll see more of him – and that’s a good thing.
