NGA News - The Wilhite Kennel vaulted past Boeckenstedt to take the lead in the $60,000 Kennel Championship after the third round at Bluffs Run on March 5.
Wilhite had entered the third round eight points behind Boeckenstedt, but a 44-point performance from Wilhite's four greyhounds gave the kennel a 110-106 lead over its rival.
The lower grades got the job done for Wilhite. Se's Rido Skin broke third and grabbed the lead in the backstretch on the way to a length's victory in Grade D. Astar Royalmagic broke fifth and rallied in the homestretch to win by three lengths in Grade C. A win is worth 15 points.
MC Full Moon added a second in Grade B, missing a win by two lengths after leading late, for 10 points.
Boeckenstedt collected 32 points. L's Zakarack led the kennel by holding on to win by a nose in Grade A.
Defending champion Bean & Stout stayed in third place with 31 points. Bean & Stout has 93 points after three rounds. PG Martanmartini, second late, exploded in the homestretch to win by five and a half lengths in Grade B. The veteran PG Tiger was second in Grade A.
Seastrom-Lovely had the best round outside of Wilhite, putting up 36 points. RJ's Commander's box-to-wire's seven-length win in Grade C paced the kennel. Ozark Inman was second in Grade B. That helped make up for a 15-point second round by the kennel in February.
