The greyhounds will return Friday, May 6, for the second round. After the second round, the field will be cut in half for the Wednesday, May 11, quarterfinals. The semifinals, with 24 greyhounds, are set for Saturday, May 14.
The championship race is Saturday, May 21.
Bluff's Run April roundup
Plum Creek’s greyhounds pounded out 38 wins in April, one more than the Harlan Brothers.
Round The Bend led Plum Creek with three wins in three starts in April, all from the 3/8-mile boxes.
The effort, along with 27 seconds and 31 thirds, gave the kennel by far the best payday in April, $104,374.15. Plum Creek also easily tops the track for yearly earnings at $331,164.
The Harlan Brothers were a bit more efficient, getting its 37 wins in 193 starts compared to Plum Creek’s 219 starts. Slatex Kayser, 4-3-1-0; Slatex Emerald, 4-3-0-1 and Slatex Scooter 4-3-0-0 led the Harlan Brothers’ effort.
There was a step back to Boeckenstedt with 32 wins and Hardison with 31 wins. L’s Zakarack, 5-3-0-0, led Boeckenstedt while Moral Direction, 2-2-0-0, led Hardison.
Those two kennels also sit three-four for the year at Bluffs Run.
The other greyhounds with three wins in April were Chiffon Glaze (Mickim), 4-3-0-1 and P’s Gibbs (Petzold), 5-3-1-0.
Bluffs Run’s May schedule is highlighted by the $60,000 3/8-Mile Derby. Ninety-six greyhounds begin the chase on Tuesday, May 3. The championship race is set for Saturday, May 21.
Because of the Derby, the May round of the $60,000 Kennel Championship is set for Saturday, May 28. Bluffs Run usually runs the monthly Kennel Championship rounds early in the month.
