NGA News -- Greyhound Adoption Resounding Success at Fulchino Farm

(POMFRET CENTER, CT) – NGA Board member, Frederick Fulchino, held an adoption picnic at his farm on Saturday, June 18, 2011. The picnic, organized by the AGC’s most recent Adoption Person of the Year – Linda Jensen, was a resounding success. In one of the largest attendances for the adoption picnic since its creation in 2008, NGA members, a track operator, adoptive parents, and retired racers for a cookout of burgers, hotdogs, and sausage.

After the tours of Fred’s farm in Pomfret Center the guests descended upon a large tent filled with raffle prizes including (but not limited to) photos that formerly hung in Plainfield Greyhound Park, various puzzles and toys, and an autographed Bruins Jersey by the 2007 team. This effort was another piece of the puzzle that led to the event’s success. All in all over 2,000 dollars were raised for greyhound adoption efforts across the nation.

From 11:00 to 4:00 over 125 people gathered, fighting against the amazing heat of the day to meet new friends and greet old friends. In attendance were Track Operator Karen Keelan who described the event as saying, “The picnic was a phenomenal opportunity to make a difference in greyhound adoption.” And June Bazaar, the former mastermind behind the successful adoption organization at Twin River.

The tours of the farm, the education provided, and the light atmosphere spread the word about greyhound adoption and gave people from as far away as Philadelphia and Quebec the opportunity to meet up with old friends and through the great time strengthen the adoption efforts by Linda Jensen.
