NGA News - Southland Derby Qualifying: 1 Remains Unbeaten After 3 Rounds

NGA News -       Forty-eight greyhounds where whittled down to 32 after the third round of qualifying action in the Southland Derby Monday at Southland Park Gaming & Racing.  Four of the five previously undefeated greyhounds also tasted defeat for the first time in the series, including the Razorback Classic winner, TB’s Final Stand.

     The only greyhound to remain undefeated was Jack’s Big Lad (Kiowa Sweet Trey x Leta’s Corvette) from the Legg Kennel.  His three length victory over Tiger Boy and his 31.87 winning time was the fastest recorded in qualifying for the day.

     Yahoo Rader ended up being the last greyhound to make the semi-final round by winning a tie-breaker over fellow Switzler Snokomo (Magic City Kennel) by recording the fastest time over any of the completed rounds.

     The semi-final round is scheduled to take place during the Saturday evening performance on June 25th.  The top eight point getters will advance to the finals on Friday evening, July 1st while the greyhounds that finished 9-16 will earn a spot in the Consolation race to be held that same evening.
