Former NGA Vice-president Troy Stiles, of Cleburne, TX, passed away earlier today (Aug. 3), the Association has just learned.
Mr. Stiles was elected to the NGA Board in October 1978 and served until October 1987. He served as vice-president in 1984 and 1985.

Troy D. Stiles, 84, of Cleburne passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, in Cleburne. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Saturday in Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Dr. Russell Elleven will officiate. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Stiles was born Oct. 2, 1926, in Pilot Point to Edwin Sr. and Hazel Stiles. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Tannehill on June 3, 1956. Mr. Stiles served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. He was the owner of TS Environmental and was a member of Westside Unitarian Universalist Church in Fort Worth. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edwin "Junior" Stiles. Survivors: Wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Stiles of Cleburne; sons, Bill Barnhill and wife, Sharon, of Denton and Joel Barnhill of Houston; daughters, Deana Lopez of Weatherford and Mary Anderson and husband, Randy, of Weatherford; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Joyce Snider and husband, Bennie, of Denton; sister-in-law, Ava Stiles of Whitesboro; and a host of other relatives and friends.
