More in the program by Gary Dura

I'm one of those racing fans who finds it a good time to handicap races - even when I don't bet them.

I call it practice; my wife has other words for it!

Anyway, Daytona this season has been providing some extra information in its program. The track puts the time it took the greyhound to go from the starting box to the first turn.

That's a great bit of data. So much happens in the first turn - bumping, pushes, you name it - that could be too much for even a great dog to overcome.

If you know how long it takes a pup to rush the corner, you get an idea if it will be ahead of or in the middle of the correr crush.

Of course, it's more data to digest. But if a dog is ahead of the mishaps, there is a pretty good chance it will hit the finish line in the money.

Hopefully, you noticed that and it helps your bet.

So, check out that number when you bet Daytona. It helps. I'd like it if more tracks added that. It sure couldn't hurt my betting results at all.

Note:
* JW Rapid Strike won the Fall Juvenile Saturday night at Derby Lane.
