Gulf's Greyhound of the Week - Kells Wild Bill

Kells Wild Bill
Since the beginning of March of 2012, this week’s recipient of the Greyhound of the Week honors, Kells Wild Bill of Libby Racing Kennels, has dominated the 550-yard racing scene. The 69-pound white ticked black male bred from TK Quick Strike and Gilded Memory* is quickly climbing up the wins list for this year with a record of 22/11-2-2-2 and showing no signs up letting up at all.

During this impressive `hot streak`, Kells Wild Bill has been victorious in nine of his last twelve races including eight grade AA wins. Kells Wild Bill also tends to put win strings together in bunches with a two-race streak that began this joyride on March 4. Then a four-race undefeated streak winning each start by at least five lengths followed after being bumped out of contention on March 14. Two narrow one-length defeats finishing third and second respectively now leads to the current three-race winning streak to earn this latest recognition.
On Saturday evening April 28, Kells Wild Bill of Libby Racing Kennels rewarded the fans as the even money favorite and new owner Kevin Muckleroy with a box to wire effort. After finishing second from the #1 post three days prior, Kells Wild Bill tried it again from the rail and won the race to the first turn over Baby I’m The Won of Lingle Kennel. Cruising on the lead, Kells Wild Bill led the rest of the journey and held off a strong challenge from DLT Annika of Lingle Kennel to win by one length in a career best time of 29.81 seconds.

Fresh off his latest crowning achievement, Kells Wild Bill set his paws on the Gulf Greyhound racing oval on Friday evening May 4 drawing the middle #5 post position. Included in this top grade field were recent grade A winners Bob’s Dea of LaRosa Racing Kennel and BG Shes My Girl of Currid Racing to try and knock Kells Wild Bill of the `king of the hill`. After avoiding some early traffic, Kells Wild Bill circled around early race leader Baby I’m The Won of Lingle Kennel at the first turn to take the lead. The rest was history as Kells Wild Bill ran away to a six-length victory and putting smiles on the faces of his supporters as the race favorite at odds of 1 to 1.

Thursday evening May 10 fits the last piece of this latest puzzle as Kells Wild Bill took center stage in race #7. Despite starting from an unfavorable post draw of the #6 spot, Kells Wild Bill broke very well from the 550-yard starting box and rushed up to take the lead around the first turn, brushing Baby I’m The Won of Lingle Kennel out of his way. Sent off as the even money favorite, Kells Wild Bill ran away from the competition in impressive fashion to win by three lengths in a time of 30.02 seconds and his third consecutive victory.
