Gulf Greyhounds Greyhound of the Week- Killer Sarah

Killer Sarah
For this week’s featured superstar, we swing back to the youth movement with Killer Sarah from Bone Man Racing Kennel. Trainer John Mitcham, Jr., along with owners Alan Hill and G. Kirk Harlan have found it difficult to remove the smiles from their faces when the 64-pound white and black female bred from Kiowa Sweet Trey – Slatex Sarah Liz is mentioned in a conversation.

The racing career for Killer Sarah began in 2011 at Bluffs Run in Council Bluffs, Iowa with a winless experience but managed three second place finishes and one third place finish in six tries around their 550-yard course. With a move to the Texas Gulf Coast, Killer Sarah made an immediate splash on March 16, 2012 winning her first ever race on the La Marque, Texas racing oval by 5-½ lengths and graduating from the maiden class.
After two fifth place finishes in grade J, Killer Sarah left the racing scene until the month of May but has returned with a vengeance landing on the pay sheet in every single outing resulting in a career record at Gulf Greyhound Park of 18/6-5-3-2.

The name of the game for Killer Sarah is to flash her early box speed and prefers the inside portion of the racetrack but has also shown success from the outside post positions. While climbing through the grading ranks and earning valuable experience, Killer Sarah gave her fastest performance on May 27 with a five-length box to wire 30.21 second effort in grade C.

After another front running victory in grade A on July 7, the stage was set for the top grade AA debut on Friday evening July 13. Superstitious? There was no reason to be as Killer Sarah, sporting the #2 blue racing blanket, won the race to the first turn ahead of speed demon DLT Traitorsplan of Lingle Kennel. Remaining comfortably on the lead by two lengths, Killer Sarah was cruising until the final stages of the race when Smoos Big Puzzle of Tri-State Kennel made things interesting. The lead diminished with every stride but the finish line arrived in time for Killer Sarah’s grade AA victory by ½ length in a time of 30.69 seconds.
